Following on from my dabbling with YouTube I wondered just how difficult it was to host your own flash movies. After installing the flvplayer plugin for WordPress, converting some existing movies using Super here are the results;
I may be inspired to post up some more in the future (bandwidth and space permitting) so keep an eye on the Movies link at the top of the page. As an aside I just up’d my hosting account with Freepgs and now get 600mb of space + 12Gb of bandwidth per day for a one off fee of $16 (yes thats a one off life time fee !!)
The photo area has been rejigged and given it’s own page here complete with cheesy pic of me ! I thought not only would I upload the photos taken at Santa Pod earlier this month I’d also have a crack at posting my own YouTube video…. enjoy
Despite my usual (probably misplaced) dislike of all things Microsoft I decided to try out Windows Live Writer after some good initial reviews. It seems to work really well with WordPress and despite being a Beta I haven’t had any issues as yet stability wise. It’s just a really nice and simple tool to edit and post to your blog in a full WYSIWYG way. I have to admit its easier to use than the inbuilt WordPress offering however time will tell this being the second post using the tool.
There is a new blog from the developers of Windows Live Writer from which you can download the Beta version here
I think maybe I’m changing too much at once, replacing MS outlook at home, switching to tablet PC and now switching my blog editor !
Recently I’ve been trying to rid myself of Microsoft products and looking at online alternatives. So far I’ve switched my main email over to gmail whilst using Mozilla Thunderbird as a POP client onto my gmail account and this is working great. One thing I was missing however was a calendar, Thunderbird currently only has a Beta plugin to handle calendars plus I really wanted something accessible online and could be easily shared. First I looked at Google Calendar, it’s got a nice UI, it’s speedy, integrates into your google search homepage as with GMail but it was lacking one crucial thing, sync with my Palm PDA. After much searching I gave up trying to sync (I did have some success with the opensource remotecal add-in for Outlook but as I wanted to ditch Outlook this was pointless). Anyway then I found AirSet, this is a great online personal information management tool, which provides group and personal calendars, contacts, blog and more. The biggest factor for me was the nice little hotsync component they supply that lets me sync the Palm so I can add appointments or contacts on the Palm or online, very handy!
Anyway go www.airset.com to register for a free airset account and try it for yourself
After many hours the cake was complete, it stood tall, menacing even…the one cake to rule them all !!!!!
Seriously though this is Katie’s cake masterpeice which she just finished at 22:20 after starting at 16:00, I hope Annabel appreciates it 🙂
On Saturday I had my party at the Wacky Warehouse with all my friends. I had a great time and would like to say a very big thankyou to all my friends for my lovely presents.
